Make the Japan Education and Cultural Centre of WA (JECCWA) a reality

Update | April 2023 – latest updates available here

The Australia Japan Society of WA’s proposal to establish JECCWA reached another milestone today with AJSWA President Ben Wholagan (pictured, right) announcing Melissa Luyke ( pictured, left) as the Director Designate of the Japan Education and Cultural Centre of Western Australia.

A qualified Japanese teacher and secretary of AJSWA, Melissa has been the long time Deputy Director of Hyogo Prefectural Government Cultural Centre, which is now closed to the public.

Whilst we can’t give any guaranteed opening date for JECCWA at this stage, discussions with the WA Government and stakeholders are progressing and we look forward to your ongoing support.

The AJSWA urgently seeks to establish and operate JECCWA on the site of the former Hyogo Prefectural Government Cultural Centre. Your donation will help make the dream reality.

AJSWA has confirmed that the WA Government supports a centre continuing if private funding can be secured to operate it.

If the level of donations does not reach the needed target, monies raised will go towards AJSWA‘s overlapping mission to foster close ties between Japan and Western Australia.
