Hajime Inoue is a Senior Economist at the Japan Research Institute, specializing in macroeconomics and economic policy. He has over 10 years of experience in macroeconomic research. After joining Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in April 2006, he transferred to the Japan Research Institute in October 2010, where he has been responsible for macroeconomic and financial market research focusing on Japan, the United States, and Europe. Since April 2024, he has been seconded to the Cabinet Office as a Senior Policy Researcher, actively contributing to policy formulation for the Japanese government. He is responsible for promoting EBPM (Evidence-Based Policy Making) in key policy areas. Since July 2025, he has served as Head of the Economic Structure Analysis Group at the Macroeconomic Research Center of the Japan Research Institute. In addition, since October 2025, he has been a Visiting Fellow at the Australia-Japan Research Centre, Crawford School of Public Policy, The Australian National University.
