JAL Scholarship Program 2011 |

Applications are now open for the 2011 JAL Scholarship Program -Japan from 14 – 21 Nov 2010.
The program provides an opportunity for students to improve their language skills by speaking Japanese in Japan.
Applicants must be current uni undergrad students 20 yrs & over, Aust citizens, & have a strong command of Japanese.

Twenty-Eighth Australia-Japan Relations Essay Contest 2010 |

Entries are now open for this year’s Australia-Japan Relations Essay Contest.The contest encourages Australian students to develop a better understanding of Japan and the issues facing the Australia-Japan relationship.
The contest is open to students enrolled in Australian secondary schools, both public and private, including 7th Year primary schools in the Northern Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
Divisions:
Year 7-8: Junior A Division
Year 9-10: Junior B Division
Year 11-12: Senior Division

Are you a design student who wants to represent Australia in an international competition?
If you've answered 'yes' then enter now! Oil up your creative clogs for a chance to win both prize money and international recognition.
This year welcomes the second furoshiki contest specifically for university and vocational school students around the world who are the designers of the future. There is a grand prize and other prizes up for offer, so you've gotta be in it to win it! |

Furoshiki, or wrapping cloths, are stylish and distinctive everyday items emblematic of the Japanese tradition of wrapping things. Since they are reusable and therefore do not impose a burden on the environment, furoshiki have attracted renewed interest in recent years, both in Japan and elsewhere.

Business Japanese Proficiency Test Cancelled |

the BJT - Business Japanese Proficiency Test will be cancelled from 2011. The Test - administered in Australia by JETRO up until Apr 2009 - that is scheduled for 21 Nov 2010 - will STILL be going ahead.

The AJS(ACT) is pleased to be hosting the 5th biennial NFAJS conference.
This biennial conference is a great opportunity to network and to meet others engaged in promoting friendship and exchange between Australia and Japan. The 2010 conference is also an opportunity to learn of exciting new networks that are emerging between Australia and Japan and of the web-based tools that are making communication across borders easier than ever before. |

Presentations will specifically deal with using the internet and website to maintain relationships with organisations in Japan. New professional, cultural and artistic networks will be presented along with the way in which they have been developed and maintained. Everyone involved in Australia-Japan networking will gain from this focus.
This will also be an opportunity for Japan-Australia Societies to visit and meet and network with their counterparts in Australia. Together this will be a celebration of our common purpose in promoting friendship and exchange between out two countries.
